Washington, D.C.’s Metro system is one of the best public transit systems in the country, with 117 miles and 91 rail stops located throughout Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. The mass transit service contributes to a regionally connected area, and Metro buses are also available to add riding options. With construction already started, the new Purple Line will link Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton—with service projected to begin in 2022.
