Chevy Chase Lake Development

The area is named “Chevy Chase Lake” for the artificial lake that was created. The largest property owners in the area are Howard Hughes Medical Institute, The Chevy Chase Land Company, and the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County.

Construction on the first phase of a redevelopment project in Chevy Chase could start in early 2018, according to officials with the two developers partnering on the plan. Mixed-use elements include a new grocery-store anchor, apartments, civic green space, and more.


One of the Purple Line’s 21 stations will be right here in Chevy Chase Lake. The station will be located on the east side of Connecticut Avenue, in the Georgetown Branch Right of Way. The Capital Crescent Trail will be rebuilt alongside the Purple Line, and completed all the way into Silver Spring.
